Hexreceipt Privacy Policy

Effective date: 27 July 2026

Hexreceipt (“the app”) helps you capture and organise your receipts and invoices for tax time — the supplier, amount, date, category, work-use portion, notes, recurring bills, and the receipt images or PDFs you attach as evidence. Your privacy is built into how the app works: Hexreceipt has no server of its own and is designed so that your information never reaches the developer or any third party.

The short version

What data the app stores, and where

Hexreceipt stores the information you choose to enter about your expenses — for example the supplier, item, date, amount, category, work-use percentage, notes, and recurring-bill details — together with the receipt images or PDFs you attach as evidence.

This information is stored:

The developer has no access to your iCloud data. It is stored under your Apple ID, governed by Apple’s Privacy Policy and iCloud terms. Hexreceipt never transmits your data to the developer or to any other party.

Camera and scanning

With your permission, Hexreceipt can use the camera while you are scanning a receipt to capture its image. The camera is used only at that moment; the resulting image is stored in your app data (on your device and in your private iCloud, as above) and is not sent to the developer.

Files you share into the app

You can share a receipt or invoice into Hexreceipt from other apps (such as Mail or Files) using the iOS share sheet. Any file you share is stored as your receipt evidence, in your app data — it is not uploaded anywhere.

Backups and exports

Hexreceipt lets you create a backup file of your data, and a year-end “submission” bundle for your accountant. These files are generated on your device and go only where you choose to send or save them (for example Files, or an email you compose). The developer never receives them.

Notifications

If you turn on end-of-year reminders, Hexreceipt schedules a small number of local notifications on your device. These are handled by iOS, involve no server, and send nothing externally.

Biometric lock

You may optionally require Face ID or Touch ID to open the app. This is handled by iOS; Hexreceipt never receives or stores your biometric data.

Purchases

Hexreceipt offers an optional one-time in-app purchase (“Pro”) that unlocks the app’s Pro features (receipt scanning and generating your year-end submission). Purchases are handled entirely by Apple’s App Store and StoreKit; Hexreceipt receives only whether the purchase is active, and never sees your payment details.

Information the developer receives

None from the app itself. If you contact the developer by email for support, the developer will receive whatever you choose to include in that message, and will use it only to respond to you.

If you download Hexreceipt from the App Store, Apple may provide the developer with aggregated, anonymous statistics (such as download counts and crash summaries). This data is collected and anonymised by Apple and does not identify you. See Apple’s privacy information for details.

Children’s privacy

Hexreceipt is not directed at children and does not knowingly collect information from children.

Your control over your data

Because your data lives on your device and in your own iCloud account, you are in control of it:
